Permaculture Design Charrette at the Space Needle

Before the Halloween parties begin, please come join us for a Seattle Permaculture Guild meetup at the top of the Space Needle. We will be REDESIGNING THE CITY (!) so please bring lots of markers/crayons/big pieces of paper. If you aren't familiar with design methodology, get ready to learn, and if you Are familiar, get ready to teach. This will also be a Kelda-going-away party/meeting. Although she'll be close (in Puyallup) where will the SPC Guild go from here? If you've been thinking about getting more involved, this winter would be a great time and there are many diverse projects to work on.

Cost is $12 (group rate) for the elevator ride (email kelda@riseup.net to RSVP/ get in on group rate. Funds may be available if the cost is pricey for you)

Okay people, Here's the deal..........Sunday, October 29th, 5:00, we will be having a party at our house to celebrate our lovely cob oven (thank you to all who helped with the creation of it) and our massive tomato harvest :-)

Spelt based pizza crust will be provided, as well as marinara sauce and dairy based cheese.....bring your favorite toppings, or raw food fun, and we will have a good time chatting, and playing around with baking things.

Please RSVP to kramerhawks@comcast.net, and I will know how much dough and drink to provide. YEAH! Come one come all, Good wishes to all, Amy

November 4-5th - Simple Living and Rekindling of Public Life Conference

Just a note to alert everyone to the Simple Living and Rekindling of Public Life Conference, with Ed Begley Jr. (of "Best In Show" movie fame) giving the keynote. Cecile and lots of other simple-living advocates will be speaking. Lots of great ideas, networking and sharing at the wonderful Sleeping Lady Mountain Retreat, Leavenworth, WA, Nov 3-5. ORGANIZATION OF THE GUILD

Non tribe members can send event info to seattlepermacultureguild@gmail.com. This info will be compiled by a rotating volunteer twice a month and posted to the permaculture website, the tribe, and emailed to the guild list. If you've planned an event, and didn't make the newsletter, take advantage of tribe and post your event there.

  • We’re going to aim for meeting once a month for folks interested in making sure the guild is running smoothly. Please come!
  • Organization of events and volunteers will be headed by whoever cares about the specific task the most! If you have an event idea, etc. consider organizing it. If not, perhaps post it on the guild’s wiki and someone else might pick it up.
  • For members who like networking online, want to check on last minute events, or post last minute stuff, etc.

check out the Seattle Permaculture Guild at http://tribes.tribe.net/seattlepermacultureguild and join the tribe.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

  • The Seattle Permaculture Guild is looking for a volunteer to work with Nova High School students. Perhaps one of us lives on First Hill and would love this project? What is needed is someone to facilitate permaculture-oriented projects in their garden, as well as share skills with the students. Kelda will be able to help with the first hands-on (tidying up unfinished hands-on projects) and introduce permaculture to the students, but someone else will be needed to continue, perhaps on a monthly basis. If interested, please contact Kelda at 324-3632.
  • More events needed. Please organize one and send updates to seattlepermacultureguild@gmail.com.
  • collect info on PC sites around town
  • Write/share articles on any topic related to permaculture
  • Create display for tabling at events
  • Staff table at upcoming events (eg Fremont Solstice Parade)
