Seattle Permaculture Guild
How to do Wiki Setup
I live close by the North Seatac Regional Park. I believe it is owned by King County, but located within the city of SeaTac.
My interest comes from living in the neighborhood for most of my life and knowing how it was created.
The park, in my opinion, is quite unique, because it was entirely created from condemned residential property at the north end of the SeaTac airport, as part of the noise remedy program, in the 70's thru the 90's.
The reason I am now studying it from a permaculture perspective is that it has never been completely developed as a park and thus many of the original plants from the residents, or their seedlings are still there available in the park.
Today(04/14/10) I walked the park and realized that now is apple blossom time in the park. An excellent time for apple tree mapping!
This brief description is just the start. Hopefully several meetups will be scheduled around the park, soon.
Thanks for visiting!
